A nutritious choker

I had to get some new multivitamins that are gluten-free and chose “CORE Daily-1-women”. Great so far, except the size. Geesh..the tablet is the size of a smaller tampon, I’m half choking every morning I take them! I even break them in half and it’s still scraping the inside of my throat…not great feeling..

Next is to crush and snort my multivitamins, feels a bit extreme…

It’s about to be on!

This week the finals start, Toyota Alvark vs. AISIN “Seawhores”. I’m beyond excited!

My son has had a bit of a cough and a runny nose and of course I feel like I’m on the verge of catching it too. I can’t get sick now! I’m pounding ginger tea with honey every night and morning, and this….this my friends, is my secret weapon of crap destruction…

Yunker Kotei, it’s a really popular “energy/health” drink. For nutrition and invigoration.

The little health solution contains

  • sugars: 7g
  • vitamine E: 10 IU
  • thiamin: 4.2 mg
  • riboflavin: 3.8 mg
  • vitamin B6: 5.0 mg
  • vitamin B12: 2.0μg
  • niacin: 10 mg
  • sodium: 30 mg
  • royal jelly: 100 mg
  • Barrenwort Fluid Extract (Leaf) 100 mg
  • Cnidium Fluid Extract (Fruit) 100 mg
  • Asian ginseng Extract (Root) 10 mg
  • hawthorn Berry Extract (Fruit) 3 mg
  • Viper Tincture 100 mg
  • Civet Tincture 100 mg

I get a bottle every now and then when I’m feeling like I need an extra boost, like today for example. I remember the first time I tried it, I almost threw up. It’s like a big shot and has a very strong after taste and gives me this burning sensation in my throat for a few seconds after drinking it. I’ve learned to like it.

So with the finals starting in two days and then packing up to fly home to California at the end of the month. No time to feel under the weather….chuga chuga chuu chuu!

Thank you “Round face”

I got a such a sweet surprise in the mail yesterday. It was a package from the company “Otafuku” (round face).

They had sent me samples of all their wheat free products. I had just emailed them a few days prior to ask if they had any wheat free alternatives to the sauces we usually get. These are apparently only sold in certain baby stores, that’s why I haven’t found them earlier.

Okonomi-sauce, ketchup, curry sauce, Japanese “hamburg”-sauce and Okonomiyaki flour-mix. Okonomiyaki is the “Japanese pancake” and it’s made with a special, a bit fishy flour mix, but wheat based of course. So I’m stoked that I’ll be able to make it again!

Can’t wait to try all of these!

Candy nuts

Do you love nuts? I love nuts, but I shouldn’t eat them because I’m allergic to most of them.

Hazelnuts being a complete no-no for me. My throat swell shut if I have some. Almonds are ok and walnuts, gosh walnuts I love! But I haven’t been eating them too often, because sometimes they make my mouth itch. However,  recently I started amping up my walnut intake, since they’re beneficial to blood type A’s and I’ve been feeling ok doing so.

I made some delicious roasted walnuts as a game snack.

Combine in a pot, 1/4 cup of raw sugar, 1/4 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of maple syrup. Heat on stove till sugar is melted. Add walnuts, I’d say 2 -3 cups and stir till all walnuts are covered. Spread them out on a rack, sprinkle with sea salt (salt is optional of course) and roast in oven on 180° for about 8 minutes, take out and let cool off.

Best snack ever!!

I brought a whole tub to the game and was munching away…till my hands swelled up and started itching. My hands have become some sort of hyper sensitive alarm clock for me, I don’t know how it works really, all I know is that I need to listen. So I gave the rest of my treats away…need to chill with them nuts…..but you should definitely try ‘em out!

Park Zoo’s and a dangerous mama.

Spring is really here! Today was so nice and warm and the petals are falling off the cherry trees, creating the illusion of snow in the air and on the ground. It’s amazing!

Todays adventure was going to Inokashira Park Zoo. I take the kids to Inokashira park every now and then but I’ve never been to the Zoo. Hanna went with school a few weeks ago and she loved it so I figured it would be a nice outing.

It was really cute, not very many big animals though, a big old tired elephant but then mostly smaller birds and rodents. The guinea pig petting area was the only thing my kids really cared about and the corner with some left over carnival looking rides. It’s free entrance to  the Zoo for kids up to 12 and 400 Yen for adults, it’s a hit! Perfect to just walk around and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

So we’re merrily strolling around in the sunshine, and as I pass this mother and her toddler, the mother says (in Japanese of course) “Kowai mama!” basically meaning “scary, creepy” while glancing at me. I don’t think she thought I’d understand what she said, because she said it loud enough for me to hear. Only it took me a bout 10 seconds to process in my head that she had called me “scary looking”…! For whyyy?! Because I’m 5’9 and my head is partially shaved? What rock are you living under?

Isn’t it always like that, it’s when the moment has passed that you come up with all these things to say back. I couldn’t even get a “boo!” out in time!

I was looking at her, a few feet away and you could tell she was one of those dry people who huffs and puffs up on anything that is not “traditional”. The type that lies on her back like a dead flounder when having sex. And she was wearing a little sun hat with a white rubber band under her chin, that’s pretty scary to me, so I was kind of satisfied with that. I saw her looking over our way and all I could think was…yeah you would think I was scary wouldn’t you…

Time to stop slacking and start stacking..

I’m looking at these pictures of my youngest sister.Only 15 years old but already starting to make a name for herself on the Swedish fashion scene.

She did ACNE’s spring collection, and it popped up on my Facebook page, since I’ve liked their page…oh…is that..? That’s my sister!

I’m so happy for her that she’s doing well and she’s got amazing years ahead of her.

But this also makes me feel incredibly old. I remember when I first started modeling, it was before “Hotmail” existed..

Just then I realized, time is going by….I’m aging…

I had to throw a pitty party for a minute, then threw myself on my husband who was on the sofa, for a sympathy hug, then rolled off on to the floor for a 15 minute intense panic session of various ab-workouts and push ups.

My husband looking at me, throwing gasoline on the fire with the comment “Baby, you’ll never be 15 again”…

Well I know that! If anything, this makes me pumped and motivated…

I’ve decided that this summer I’m going to get as fit as I’ve ever been. Thanks to the BTD, I’ve gotten a great head start because those last most difficult pregnancy kg that I thought I’d be stuck with for ever, melted away in a couple of weeks after getting on it. So I’m gonna work on building muscle.

I’m gonna build so much muscle that you’re gonna wonder if I’m really a man in a two piece, I wanna look like a piece of oiled up beef jerky.

No, I’m just kidding…not my cup of tea.

See you on the fit side!

Dieting the diet

I’ve been struggling lately to keep my dietary “restrictions” up. I kind of slid in by accident on the whole “blood type diet” thing. I wasn’t out to lose weight, just boost my body’s all over potential, and the benefits were hugely noticed after just a week. I’m all for the blood type diet, it makes a lot of sense to me. And of course I have it all to thank for my discovery of my food allergy.

But I’m pretty tired of being so high maintenance with my food. The nit-picking with all the avoids, neutrals and beneficials. I have a limit for what I’m willing to put in to this. Japan is first of all a sucky country to live in if you’re gluten intolerant or like me, allergic to wheat. There’s nothing else out there for you. Every sauce is soy sauce based and therefore contains wheat. Not gluten free breads or pastries..nothing. The dango’s I was so happy over, I later learned that they have added wheat gluten in them, to make them so yummy and soft. So I can cross those of my list too. So basically I’ve just cut a ton of foods out and have nothing to substitute with.

So I’ve decided, for my own sanity and wellbeing that “arigato” blood type diet, for giving me a nudge, insight and pushing me in the right direction, I’m gonna keep some of it up, but I have to focus first hand on avoiding the stuff I’m allergic too, what gives me an instant allergic reaction.

I’m doing my own personal thing,

My main avoid list

  • beef
  • pork
  • processed cheese
  • wheat and gluten (due to allergy)
  • tree nuts (due to allergy)

It’s gonna be my happy medium.

Anyways, I do recommend though for anyone, dealing with weight issues, or general health issues to give the BTD a try. Even a few tweaks to your diet can make a big difference.

Right now I can’t wait to go home for the summer. I can’t wait to go to a full variety grocery store! Hello supermarket!!! Hello gluten-free isle! Hello to be able to read ingredients labels!!
